Gianna Fratta, conductor

She decided to dedicate her life to conducting at the age of nine, the first time she heard a live orchestra while studying piano at the Milan Conservatory of music. She then graduated in piano, composition, choral music, choir conducting and orchestral conducting. At the same time she graduated in law.

Throughout her career, she has performed and conducted in many prestigious theaters, including Teatro Coliseo in Buenos Aires, Carnegie Hall in New York, Seoul Arts Center, Hong Kong Opera, Smetana Hall in Prague, Teatro Municipal in São Paolo. The international orchestras with which she has collaborated include the Berliner Symphoniker, the Prime Orchestra of Seoul, the Macao Symphony Orchestra, the Orchester National d’Île-de-France, the Royal Academy of London and many others.

Her conducting activity in Italy includes collaborations with the main orchestras such as the National Symphony Orchestra of the RAI in Turin, the Orchestra of the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, the Orchestra of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini in Parma, the Orchestra Regionale Toscana, the Teatro Petruzzelli Orchestra, the Fondazione Arena di Verona Orchestra and many others, alongside artists such as Martha Argerich, Gidon Kremer, Sergej Krylov, Avi Avital, Raina Kabaiwanska, David Garrett, etc.

In the 2023/2024 season she was the only one in Italy to inaugurate two opera institutions: the Arena Foundation of Verona with The Magic Flute and the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi of Trieste with Manon Lescaut.

She holds the chair of elements of composition at the Foggia conservatory and regularly holds master classes in many institutions around the world.

He has published records and DVDs with Sony, Brilliant Classics, Arcana, Amadeus, Classica HD, Velut Luna, Bongiovanni. She is a Knight of the Italian Republic for international artistic merit as a pianist and orchestra conductor and the protagonist of various documentaries that tell the story of her life.
